A few more of the newbies

We think we have all of them named - but need to make sure the names fit!

I think this is Stunk - can't tell if the stripe is down the back or not in this picture.

This is Henrietta - Samantha named her from the movie The Good Dinosaur.

Because they are like a drug...

So, this happened...

It wasn't completely me - although I did make the drive to get them!  Roger wanted Silkies and these mixed guys were free - so we added 6 more to our mix!

They are hard to see, but there are two yellows and four partridge babies in there.

Their first night out

Tonight was their first night staying out overnight.  They put themselves to bed all on their own!  Hopefully it will be this easy all the time!

Chicken tractor

Roger made us a chicken tractor. I am waiting for him to share pictures of the process so I can share them on here.

Once we get moved to the new property, Samantha and I may paint it.  Unsure of the colors yet - we are thinking traditional barn red with white trim. We will use this as a place for breeders, keep one roo and a few ladies for him in there.

Hard lessons learned

Well, we have already learned a few things - the hard way!  Lesson number one: cedar bedding is toxic to baby chickies.  Along with the few we didn't expect to make it - because that's just simple chicken math - we lost several to the bedding.

Of our 13 original, we have 4 thriving and surviving chickie teens! From what I have read and people I have chatted with - I think we have two lady chics and two roos!

In order from left to right:

Coon, Eyebrows, Dexter and Duckie

Yes, they are inside in my kitchen floor- it was temporary while the crate was being cleaned!
